The actor wrote: “Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”
He added: “Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requirements. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?”
In an announcement, a Warner Bros. representative confirmed that the preproduction on the movie has been suspended after a “company member” on the Elvis production had tested positive for coronavirus and that the “person who tested positive for COVID-19 is currently undergoing treatment.”
The company did not announce how many cast and team members were working with Hanks during preproduction.
COVID-19 has caused more than 4,600 deaths worldwide and infected more than 100,000 people in various countries, according to some reliable reports. On Wednesday night, the U.S. took severe actions to check the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, which now has over 1,300 confirmed cases.
Hanks, a two-time Oscar winner, and lead actor of films including Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, and The Post, is the highest-profile Hollywood personality to be tested positive with the COVID-19 virus.
