Lisa recently became a mother of twin daughters through surrogacy, and she took on social media handles to share the news. She had plenty to say about her motherhood. In an interview, she also shared why she felt the need to talk openly about surrogacy. However, she feels truly blessed to have daughters Sufi and Soleil in her life. The journey to motherhood was not easy for Lisa Ray.
The need to talk openly about surrogacy?
Lisa shared her intimacy story because she believed that people have misconceptions about surrogacy. She stated that it felt right to share the moment of happiness as she has always been open about her cancer journey. Lisa wanted to raise hope for others by sharing her surrogacy story.
About her surrogacy journey
Lisa’s journey was not an easy journey towards motherhood. She stated that her desire for having children grew after marriage. She was surprised to have those thoughts as she never really planned to be a mother.
The beautiful twin daughters were born in Tbilisi, Georgia this June. Lisa diagnosed with blood cancer in 2009, the possibility of carrying children by Lisa was a risky task. But, the improvement in technologies has opened various choices and new possibilities for having a child. India was their first preference for surrogacy, but the hope dashed as commercial surrogacy gets outlawed. But, she kept her spirit up. Her first attempt in Mexico, unfortunately, failed for some reason. A lot of money was spent, apart from that she was all soaked up emotionally. But overcoming the odds, she finally settled on the country Georgia. Surrogacy is legal in Georgia. The process was successful, and here she is becoming an unconventional parent in her 40’s.
Being an unconventional parent
Lisa Ray and her husband Jason became parents in their mid-40’s. She says that her life is tumbling now. She is constantly trying to coordinate activities like feeding, napping, etc. Both the parents are waiting to move back to Mumbai. They are all excited to take back their daughters back home in Mumbai. Also, she is all excited to adapt and mix in within the new phase of life.
