The former Bollywood ‘Musafir’ film dacing queen Koena Mitra is in news. Initially, she was in headlines, when she criticizes the new remix of her song ‘O Saki Saki’ performed by Nora Fatehi. She called the song from ‘Batla House’ movie a mess and showed displeasure. But, now she is again in headlines, as she gets sentence to six month to jail. As per reports, she gets sentence in bouncing cheque case. On the other hand, Koena Mitra said in her defense that she has been framed in this matter.
The Case
The complaint filed by the Poonam Sethi, at the time of the court’s hearing, Koena argued that Poonam Sethi was not financially sound enough to lend the money to her. Not only had that she actually stolen her cheques. But, the court has dismissed this argument by dancing diva.
Koena Mitra gets Sentence
Recently, the complaint was filed in a Metropolitan magistrate’s court by model Poonam Sethi and now Koena Mitra is directed by the court to pay Rs 4.64 lakh that includes an interest of Rs 1.64 lakh. This case dates back to the year 2013 when a cheque bounced after ‘want of funds’. Koena Mitra borrowed a sum of Rs 22 lakh in the form of a loan. But, at the time of the loan’s repayment, Koena Mitra’s cheque of Rs 3 lakh had bounced.
After court verdict, Koena Mitra said, “It is a court matter, so obviously we will go to the higher court to challenge the order. The higher court will give us an order (and) only then can we talk about it. Right now, I don’t have anything to say except that it’s a fraud case and I am being framed.”
She further said that her lawyer wasn’t present in the court during the final argument, so the order was passed without her side of the argument being presented. She added that her lawyers are currently working on a challenge plea.
