Maisie Williams Doesn’t Seem Happy With GoT Ending

Well the finale of Game of Thrones becoming controversial, as many leading star from the season showed disappointment and anger on the ending. Despite that, what happened and who sits on the ‘iron throne’, every actor wanted to the end of last episode according to their choice. But, its director, writer and producer’s choice, how they wanted the season to be ended. Same is the case for Arya Stark, Maisie Williams who played the role of Arya Stark does not seem happy with the ending.

In an interview, she said that after killing the night king, for which many fans are surprised, she wanted to kill Cersei, the queen of 7 kingdoms as well. Besides them, fans are also not very happy about the last season and the way it is executed. Since then, creator George RR Martin has spoken out about the finale and HBO even responded to the backlash, which claimed that the eighth season was too “rushed”.

Now, Maisie Williams has revealed that she had a different vision of how she wanted the show to end. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Williams said she had hoped the writers would take a different approach with her character, Arya Stark.

Williams said. “I wanted Arya to kill Cersei even if it means (Arya) dies too. Even up to the point when Cersei’s with Jaime I thought (while reading the script), ‘He’s going to whip off his face (and reveal its Arya)’ and they’re both going to die. I thought that’s what Arya’s drive has been.”

On the other hand, aside from the storyline, Williams said she also wanted another opportunity to work with Lena Headey, who plays Queen Cersei. “I just wanted to be on set with Lena again, she’s good fun,” she said,

The “Thrones” star may not have gotten the ending she wanted, but she did have a lot of thoughts on her character’s actual ending. The actress said that is why she was surprised when she read her character’s final scene with the Hound. He begs Arya to think about her other options before continuing on her path to try to kill Cersei, while Daenerys Targaryen burns down the Red Keep with her Drogon.
