Famous Pakistani singer and Bollywood actor Ali Zafar is having a sigh of relief. Sexual harassment case by Meesha Shafi against Ali Zafar has been dismissed. The famous singer took to social media to share the news.Ali Zafar writes on social media: “Meesha Shafi’s case against me has been dismissed alongside the appeal made against the dismissal, the case in the court (now) is my (read: me) against her to pay for the damages that her false statement has (read: have) caused me, which naturally she is trying to run away from.”
When, Where and How?
Earlier, actor and songwriter opened up on being accused of sexual harassment, an allegation levied by singer Meesha Shafi, in April last year. In his post, Zafar wrote: “Meesha Shafi’s case against me has been dismissed alongside the appeal made against the dismissal, the case in the court (now) is my (read: me) against her to pay for the damages that her false statement has (read: have) caused me, which naturally she is trying to run away from.”

Addressing reporters after appearing in a local court hearing a defamation case filed by him against Meesha Shafi, Ali Zafar said, “To tolerate cruelty is a bigger sin than inflicting it. I wasn’t called to court today yet here I am because I’m telling the truth and a person like that will come to court regardless. And whoever doesn’t show up, you can assume what they are.”
On the other hand, Meesha Shafi’s lawyer challenged Zafar’s claim that Meesha’s case has been “dismissed”.
Talking to a private media outlet, lawyer said that Meesha Shafi filed a harassment claim against Zafar with the provincial ombudsperson but it was dismissed on technical grounds by the ombudsperson and Punjab governor. Shafi’s appeal against this dismissal is presently pending before the Lahore High Court.
Meesha had called out Ali last April, accusing him of sexual harassment. In a social media note, she wrote: “Ali is someone I have known for many years and someone I have shared a stage with. I feel betrayed by his behavior and his attitude and I know that I am not alone.
